Sharing God's Love Through Community

At Grace Community Church, our events are more than dates on a calendar — they are opportunities to serve, celebrate, and connect with the people of Topeka. Each year, four cornerstone events anchor our ministry seasons.

Three of these events are outward-facing outreach opportunities where we serve our neighbors and community. The fourth is inward-facing, designed to bring our church family together in joy and celebration.

Together, these four events form the rhythm of our year — moments that remind us who we are, who we serve, and how God is at work through us.

Our Four Annual Events

FEBRUARY

1. Night to Shine Outreach

A night of joy, honor, and celebration for individuals with special needs.

Grace Community Church partners with the Tim Tebow Foundation and other local organizations to host Night to Shine, a worldwide prom experience for people with special needs ages 14 and older.

Each February, we put on a full red-carpet celebration filled with music, dancing, limo rides, food, and endless smiles. Volunteers from our church serve as buddies, hosts, photographers, and prayer partners to make each guest feel like royalty for the evening.

Night to Shine has become one of the most powerful expressions of God’s unconditional love in our community, reminding us that every person is wonderfully made in His image.

APRIL

2. Easter Outreach

An egg hunt with eternal purpose.

Each spring, our Easter Outreach brings families from across the neighborhood together for a fun-filled day of egg hunts, laughter, and connection. Hosted at the Hitchens home and surrounding neighborhood, the event features over 1,000 eggs hidden across the yard for multiple age-group hunts throughout the day.

Beyond the excitement, it’s a time to share the message of the resurrection — that Jesus is alive and that hope is real. This event allows us to meet new families, build friendships, and invite them into the greater story of what God is doing through Grace Community Church.

AUGUST

3. August Church Birthday Celebration

A time for family, food, and fellowship.

Each August, we turn our attention inward to celebrate the life of our church family with our annual Church Birthday Celebration.

This event looks a little different every year — sometimes it’s a picnic, sometimes a block party, sometimes a full-on church cookout — but the heart remains the same: we celebrate what God has done and look ahead to what He will do next.

It’s a time to reflect, reconnect, and rejoice together in the community God has built at Grace Community Church.

OCTOBER

4. Halloween Outreach

Turning a night of costumes into a night of connection.

Every Halloween, Pastor Louie and our church family transform his neighborhood into one of Topeka’s most welcoming and memorable trick-or-treat experiences.

With over 1,000 kids coming through, we use all of our church’s creativity and resources to make the evening fun, safe, and joy-filled for families. From decorated yards and candy stations to friendly faces and warm conversations, this event is a simple yet powerful way to show Christ’s love to our neighbors.

Why We Do What We Do

In every event we host — whether it’s serving the special needs community, celebrating the resurrection, or handing out candy on Halloween — we do it for one reason: to build genuine relationships that reflect God’s love.

Our goal is not just to hold events, but to be present, visible, and available to the people of Topeka. We believe that through these moments, God works through us to grow His Kingdom, one relationship at a time.
